In his kingdom, all the world was dark and void where the spirits of the dead walked their lonely paths to forgetfulness. Her shining beauty brought a dim glimmer of hope to the dark regent, but she was sad. She missed the light and the verdant life of her world above. And so he brought her jewels and made them the shining stars of the night sky made from dark cloth. Still, the light paled in comparison to the sun and the streams of spring. He brought her gold and gems, silk and honey, but all was fake and hollow in her eyes.

Finally his shining beauty would return to the world above, but he cursed her with the simple sweet taste of a pomegranate. What was meant to parch her hunger doomed her to an eternity of living half in his world and half in the world above, forever in a cycle of sadness and love, winter and summer.

I'll probably be doing two more digitally colored versions of this. Here's the copic marker one (with a little Photoshop help for the bg)! This was also done on translucent marker paper. It doesn't let the markers bleed, but ugh is it delicate, flimsy, and crinkly. I don't recommend it.
