Painted in Photoshop with lots of music inspiration!
I used JonasDeRo's brush set almost exclusively for this piece.
He made an oath once, upon faith and blood. He had sworn to be the guardian of the realm, to protect their people in time of peace and time of war. He was betrothed to the land of his birth that day, the silk wrapped blade of the Crown Prince placed in his untried hands.
Years gone by in a land where such finery meant little more than scrap to be sold for food, he would remember the cold metal of his oath even when he did not want to.
This was a practice piece for my book cover portfolio in which I joyfully double dipped into my own original world and characters for inspiration for a book cover idea. Perhaps one day this will be the cover to an actual novel? One can only hope! Eventually I'll indulge in that writing muse of mine when my life's settled down more.
I think this is the first time I've ever seen Ramah staring back at me in a piece and thought 'that's him!'. He's eluded me for years when it comes to drawing him correctly. I'm happy to finally capture some of that essence!

This is truly lovely, Ang. Sorry to have "ignored" this for so long. It was posted after my cancer surgeries when my meds were not being at all kind. Not to worry, two of my oncologists say I'm currently cancer free.
