Description

Scrapping this in a bit!

I did these doodles for the Assassin's Creed themed tarot for the group project over at #VisionaryAssassins during Imagicon this past weekend.

My chosen cards were The Star and X of Swords, two of the most striking cards in any deck (at least for me).

The Star - Distant hope, long journey, momentary relief

For this card, I'm planning to show Altair perched atop a building in Jerusalem staring on at his destination, a distant tower emblazoned with a star. The 2nd thumbnail is supposed to be him riding on a horse through a star filled night, but that had the intent of riding away instead of moving towards a destination. (Yes I know my thumbnails are messy and hard to glean all this from XD)

The X of Swords - Perfect desolation, things can't get worse

With as many times as Ezio gets wounded in AC2, it only seemed fitting that he would don the X of Swords, the card of desolation and impalement by 10 swords. My concept (which is also featured in the larger thumbnail) shows my favorite Italian assassin held at ten sword points (some of them stabbing his arms) and bound by the hands. Things can't get worse, but the sword in his bound hands signals that he hasn't given up yet!

I also pondered a concept of him actually being impaled by the 10 swords, but that feels too forceful of an image. Then again, perhaps the card of 'perfect desolation' should involve more gore? Might play with this more gruesome concept in doodles later!

Feel free to tear these apart as they are just budding concepts.

I enjoy both of these concepts - I'll try not to critique the artwork, since I'm well aware these are sketches; I think the most finalized concept is really interesting, and definitely a good blend of your own creative take on the card incorporated with the content of the game. My mind went somewhere different for "things can't get worse" (something in the vein of "twelve brutes and no escape route"), but I like your take.
