This is an animated progression of my digitally painted master copy of John William Godward's Offering to Venus. You can see the side-by-side comparison here:

I recently finished a master copy of John William Godward's painting, Offering to Venus.  This was my first ever attempt at copying a masterwork and it's proven to be a most enlightening experience!  Many thanks to *Zephyri for her suggestion to try this exercise and her tutorials on the matter.

I've written an in-depth blog post about how this exercise helped me here:
What I Learned from Master Copying - Offering to Venus.

Great use of an animation! I like seeing moving work in progress pieces like this.

Good work done hrere. I once attempted copying a painting, but I failed miserably. Maybe because I picked some architecture. Bleah. Not easy thing to do.

Yeah architecture is tough! A painting with people just holds my interest longer, which is another reason I chose this one. Still, it'd be a nice endurance test to see if I could copy something that's purely architecture!
