"Lady of July", 10x20 inches, watercolors and ink on illustration board with gold liquid leaf accents.
I was heavily inspired by the Star Festival of Japan and the celebration of love with China's Qixi. These festivals honor the ability of the heart to break free of boundaries and follow their passions to realize their greatest wishes in life, love, and happiness.
My Lady of July breaks boundaries and pursues her own vision, her path, a light in the darkness for others to follow.

The Lady of July bears the Larkspur and dons the stone of Ruby. The Larkspur represents an open heart, while the Ruby will bring her love and passion. She ushers in a time of freedom and celebration.

This immediately reminded me of Inu Yasha. Beautiful!
