Angel of Autumn by AngelaSasser Angel of Autumn by AngelaSasser
| Prints, Original Art, and Products :pointr: [link] |
Just as surely as the sun rises and sets, the summer must end. We reap the last bounty of harvest and enjoy the last fruits of life before the world grows sleepy and withers.

I am the Angel of Autumn, the Giving One.

The last of the seasonal angels is here. She also represents my favorite season, a season indicative of piles of leaves to jump into, a myriad of colors in flux, and the energy of change. Autumn also contains All Hollows Eve, my favorite 'holiday'.

She was ironically the last one to be drawn, which I think shows how far I improved even on just a series of four. She's my favorite as well.:)

She's so lovely. I'm sad that I'm currently viewing this on a monitor that isn't friendly to subtle colors, but even so the colors you chose are simply gorgeous and very definitely evocative of the season. :)

love the gradient of her wings! =) actually i guess the whole thing is lovely, the tonalities & sunset shades. altho, idunno, maytbe u might wanna experiment a bit nxt time by having one contrasting color -- like purple -- in that harmonious miasma of red & orange & brown. just a random thought i had as i was running my eyes thru this lovely autumn paradise.

That probably would've helped make the shadows stand out a little bit more. Unlike Summer, I went with purer hues and shaded without using the complementary colors. I decided against that since the other angels were painted with purer hues, which made them a bit more airy and light. I should probably do Summer over again, but I am laaazyXD

This is beautiful! The colors are gorgeous, the flowing lines give it a sense of movement, and the angel is so pretty. Great job! I love the art nouveau style. I have to look at the rest of this series now. :aww:

Ehehe well if you were to redo summer to fit with ours right now, she'd be one bigg soggy lump. Bloody english summer. But this turned out great! I think I like this one best overall... my fave is probably the lineart for summer, but I wasn't all that fond of the colours, but this is just immediately recognisable, and I love the fact she has a personality that suits the season too. A great series, all in all!

I have to agree with you. Summer had the most spunk when it came to posing. I'm not as pleased with the colors of Autumn as I want to be, but I'm quite happy with the line art. She's definitely the most detailed one of the series which goes to show you what happens with any series (the later ones will almost ways be better).

Where to go from here? I'm really liking the practice this has been giving me so I'm considering doing another short series of the Japanese elements...this time with kimono figures rather than angels. Mmmm time to play with clothing!

Anyhoo glad you enjoyed this series! I'm hoping it's only the tip of the iceberg for the work to come.:D

I definitely had strong influence from Art Nouveau movement, particularly Alphonse Mucha. He has such wonderful flowing art.

And you should do more stock. All of it is so lovely and inspiring! I will DEFINITELY be using more of your work.

Woo you're finally done with the series then :D It was fun to watch you making progress with these, and they all turned out lovely. I'm curious to see what you'll do next!

Autumn is a great season you just made me realize too that this will be a first time in 10 years or so when I'll get to experience change of seasons outside of IL. I wonder how different will it be, since there's different vegetation around here :)!

It's quite beautiful down here. We have Bradford Pears and tall Oaks that change with really bright reds and oranges.

I'm pondering so many things to help keep me in practice, from birthstones to elements. I think I'm going to see what interesting images come to mind with the Japanese elements.

oi yeah..I have issues after a few days where I get massive headaches and end up sleeping early. It's definitely not a healthy practice! I've been trying to change my habits to get up earlier in the mornings to work on art.

But dangit if artists aren't night people. It's hard to break out of!
